The Viking Helmet

Viking helmets were worn by warriors from Scandinavia during the Viking Age, around 800 to 1100 CE. They were usually made of iron and shaped like a rounded or cone-shaped cap.

Some Viking helmets had a special nose guard to protect the face, but they were pretty simple overall. And here’s a surprise—real Viking helmets didn’t have horns! That’s just a myth made up much later in books and plays.

Because metal was expensive, not every Viking had a helmet. Some wore leather caps instead. Still, Viking warriors were feared for their bravery, strength, and smart battle tactics.

Even though real Viking helmets were plain, the horned version became super famous in movies and cartoons. Today, they’re a big symbol of Viking power and adventure.
